Salary/Position Classification

  • $44,000+ Annual, Dependent on Experience, Exempt
  • 40 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: Yes
  • Hybrid Work Availability (requires some time on campus): Yes
    • Residency & Travel: May reside anywhere in North Dakota; however, western North Dakota will be the primary recruitment territory and regular travel throughout the region will be required. Residence should support efficient service to the assigned territory.

Purpose of Position

The Admissions Representative works collaboratively with other student service professionals in the SMHS and across campus to recruit students to the SMHS medical doctor program. Promotes SMHS and healthcare careers to K-12, colleges, and the public. 

Duties & Responsibilities

Identify and Recruit High-Quality Students for SMHS

  • Work collaboratively with the Outreach and Recruiting Coordinator, Pre-Health Advisor, and INMED office
  • Aid in the development of recruitment materials
  • Assist in identifying high impact recruiting markets
  • Identify and create relationships with feeder schools
  • Provide feedback for strategic enrollment planning
  • Identify strategic recruiting events and coordinate participation of stakeholders to maximize the positive impact of the event on prospective students
  • Provide presentations to prospective students and student groups
  • Lead efforts to identify and contact prospective students
  • Develop recruitment events and activities
  • Understand SMHS academic calendar, curriculum and student support services
  • Maintain knowledge of SMHS programs
  • Travel around the state of ND  

Promote SHMS Medical Doctor and Physician Assistant Program

  • Manage events that promote SMHS
  • Develop outreach events and activities
  • Maintain a network of professional contacts to support SMHS outreach goals
  • Provide tours for prospective students and families

  • Ability to be self-directed, and work both independently and as a member of a team
  • Ability to assist and direct students in a courteous and empathetic manner
  • Ability to travel locally for recruitment purposes
  • Ability to travel nationally for professional development opportunities
  • Ability to work some evenings and weekends
  • Willingness and ability to collaboratively and independently troubleshoot difficult situations
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and provide professional service, in a welcoming, understanding, and empathetic manner, to people from a variety of diverse social and economic backgrounds

  • Prefer knowledge of NDUS, UND and SMHS policies and procedures
  • Prefer knowledge of FERPA rules and regulations

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Public relations, communications or marketing experience
  • Public speaking experience
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Database or spreadsheet management skills
  • Experience working in higher education
  • Experience working with medical students and/or medical residents
  • Experience working with PeopleSoft
