Salary/Position Classification

  • $40,300 dependent on experience, annual, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week

Purpose of Position

Provide the administrative support required to operate an efficient office, fulfill the primary mission of the Office of Student Finance by providing information and services to undergraduate, graduate, and professional students who require financial assistance to attend the University of North Dakota, and maintain compliance with Federal, State and University policies and regulations governing eligibility and disbursement of educational financial aid.

Duties & Responsibilities

Financial Aid Processing
  • Complete student financial aid processes as determined by Student Finance leadership
  • Manage verification batch processing
  • Process documentation for independent status reviews, including tax returns, W-2s, and worksheets
  • Review ISIR data to determine accuracy, tolerance, or need for correction; update records in Campus Connection as required
  • Participate in cost of attendance and financial aid awarding processes
  • Communicate with students and families regarding verification requirements and outcomes
  • Monitor ISIR changes after verification and re-verify when necessary
  • Coordinate with and support student employees assisting with verification processing
  • Develop and maintain policies and procedures in compliance with federal and institutional requirements
  • Assist with special projects and additional responsibilities as assigned
Customer Service & Office Support
  • Provide general customer service and promote a positive work environment
  • Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff
  • Collaborate with One-Stop Student Services to resolve student issues
  • Provide backup support for data processing, mail, and email functions
  • Assist with front desk coverage and reception as needed
  • Provide backup support across Student Finance roles
Process Improvement
  • Identify, analyze, and improve business processes within Student Finance and One-Stop
  • Use data to inform priorities and evaluate outcomes
  • Collaborate with teams to implement and support process improvements that enhance workflow and service

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent years of related experience
  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Outlook, with extensive Excel experience.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with continuous improvement strategies and tools.
  • One year experience working in an office setting and/or task-related experience.
  • Two years experience working in a university setting.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Student Admin module and Perceptive Content.
  • Experience with UND policies and procedures.
  • One year experience with Title IV regulations.
  • Two years experience in Financial Aid.
