Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

The Wellness Center Operations Assistant is responsible for a variety of tasks related to the hiring and training of new Wellness Center employees. The Operations Assistant is the first line of contact that applicants and new hires have with our department. This position works very closely with other program managers and supervisors to ensure all applicants and new hires go through the proper procedures to prepare for employment. This position is a member of the Administrative group of the Wellness & Health Promotion Department.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Provide oversight of recruitment and job posting process, both internally as well as through the Student Employment office.
  • Oversee the entire new employee process from receiving and submitting applications to completion of new employee orientation.
  • Oversee the implementation of Team Wellness Job Performance Appraisals.
  • Assist in planning events and professional development activities for student employees.
  • Actively maintain proactive communication with Team Health & Wellness members.
  • Provide suggestions for change in Team Wellness policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employee manual and other Team Health & Wellness supporting materials are up to date and all employees are aware of documents.
  • Aid the Assistant Director of Business Operations in the assessment of learning.
  • Maintain regular communication with all Administrative team members regarding the hiring, training, and development of all student employees.
  • Maintain employment records of student employees utilizing Perceptive Content.
  • Manage the current employee recognition programs and assist with the development of new programs.
  • Performs basic administrative duties such as answer phones, filing and managing schedules.
  • Aid in the acquisition and inventory of supplies and equipment.
  • Assists in record retention process for the program area.
  • Assist in data and information tracking for program area.
  • Meet with the direct supervisor weekly.
  • Participation in orientations, welcome weekend, departmental special events, and other all-campus activities, campus outreach events.
  • Assist with planning and facilitation for both fall and spring All Staff Training.
  • Attend regularly scheduled meetings and trainings Perform other duties as assigned. 

Required Competencies

  • Strong attention to detail and time management
  • Familiarity with student employment recruitment, onboarding, and policies
  • Willingness to take on varied duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience with Microsoft Office programs.
  • Familiarity with office equipment and the ability to perform basic office duties.
  • Strong communication skills and a personable attitude.
  • Ability to develop a schedule and coordinate activities under time restraints.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED, or ability to obtain within 2 weeks of hire. (Training provided by the Wellness Center at no cost for employees)
  • Successful completion of a Standard Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Hold or be pursuing a degree in Management or Human Resource Management.
  • Ability to multi-task in an office setting and be prompt and dependable.
