Purpose of Position

This is a non-benefited Student position, all considered applicants are required to be an enrolled student at UND.


The UND Arctic Lab (Department of Communication, A&S) seeks to fill two positions to work on a DoD project that aims to develop and implement the essential methods, algorithms, and distributed workflows necessary for integrating computation directly into cyberinfrastructure focused on geospatial problem-solving challenges inherent to Arctic transformation. This URA position seeks undergraduate students from Communication, Geography & GIS, Physics, Mathematics, Computer Science and other STEM disciplines.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Contributing to writing reports and papers 
  • Development of literature reviews 
  • Assisting with data analysis and reporting 
  • Assisting with developing research presentations 
  • Assisting project team members with research productivity 

Required Competencies

  • Very good English communication skills, both spoken and written
  • Strong computer skills (may include experience with a variety of software packages).
  • Self-starter, hardworking, passionate regarding research and scientific reporting

Minimum Requirements

  • Pursuing BS, BA in related STEM fields
  • Must be enrolled in a minimum of one credit at UND.
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check
