Moves & Maintenance Specialist

Salary/Position Classification

  • $37,000+ annual, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week
  • 100% Remote Work Availability: No

Purpose of Position

Responsible for performing non-warehouse deliveries, department moves and transfers, assisting event set-ups/teardowns, and other general building maintenance tasks as assigned in the Maintenance Shop. In addition, they may assist in perform snow and ice removal/mitigation during a snow event.

All Facilities Management positions are subject to overtime and callbacks twenty-four (24) hours a day, seven (7) days a week as needed/directed by supervisors/directors.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Moves, Deliveries, and Event Setup/Teardown
  • Perform inter/intra-campus moves and transfers
  • Remove/deliver items such as band and sporting equipment, in addition to supplies and machinery to support departmental events and operations
  • Coordinate with department and Facilities Management trades as required to facilitate a smooth move
  • Deliver, set up and take down items such as portable stages, barricades, and tables/chairs for department events
  • Other duties, as assigned 
  • General Building Maintenance
  • General Carpentry - Repair/replace cove base, screens, ceiling tile, door hardware, bathroom/classroom accessories
  • Repair/replace/assemble/disassemble modular office systems and fixtures
  • Electrical – Replace switch and outlet covers
  • Plumbing – Unplug sinks/showers, toilets, urinals and drinking fountains
  • Building exterior – Miscellaneous concrete repairs and exterior structure repairs/replacements
  • Install required signage, grab bars, paper/tissue dispensers in required locations
  • Installation/mounting of artwork, televisions, projectors, screens, shelving, hardware, and personal items
  • Report safety concerns and security issues to supervisor
  • Snow Removal
  • Utilize proper equipment and materials to remove snow/ice from campus streets, sidewalks, parking lots and other hardscapes using established standard operating procedures and in time/manner as directed by Facilities Management and Landscape/Grounds Coordinator or designee.
  • Haul snow from piling areas when required 

Required Competencies

  • • Excellent analytical and coordination/organization skills
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Interact, communicate and collaborate with students, faculty, staff, and co-workers
    • Work independently and as a team and complete necessary training for this job classification
    • Comprehend and follow directions as well as use sound decision-making skills
    • Withstand long periods of lifting, pulling, tugging, climbing, kneeling, working with hands overhead, without restrictions
    • Work in buildings containing asbestos materials

Minimum Requirements

  • One (1) year general maintenance and/or carpentry experience in a commercial setting
  • General computer skills/experience
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with UND campus and buildings
  • Experience with Asset Works, facilities management software
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • One (1) year experience in operating large equipment such as tractors, Bobcats, and pay loaders.
  • Experience moving and/or delivering office or household equipment/furniture
