Energy Hawk Research Internship

Purpose of Position

This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position.

The EERC at UND is seeking qualified and highly motivated undergraduate and graduate
students from any discipline for paid summer research intern positions. Interns will be
introduced to energy impacts, challenges, and opportunities from technical, regulatory,
and social perspectives.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Research future North Dakota energy opportunities with a focus on conducting research in North Dakota energy and value-added energy products.
  • Work closely with each other and EERC research scientists, engineers, and project managers on research activities designed to better understand North Dakota’s current energy landscape, focus on future energy challenges, and develop value-adding opportunities.
  • Research topics; prepare technical progress reports, a business plan, and presentations; and present research project results. - (Essential)

Minimum Requirements

  • Current UND students with confirmed enrollment at UND for the fall 2025 semester.
  • Interest in understanding energy and research is essential.
  • Attend 5-day trip to energy production sites and communities across North Dakota
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

In compliance with federal law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work in the US and to complete the required employment eligibility verification form upon hire. This position does not support visa sponsorship for continued employment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • No prior energy experience is needed.
  • Position is open to all majors and disciplines of study
