Salary/Position Classification

  • $44,300 - $47,000 annual, Exempt

Purpose of Position

The purpose of this position is to direct the day-to-day operations for the UND Women’s Basketball program, including arranging all team travel, serve as summer camp director, assist in video coordination for coaches and team, assist in developing a competitive game schedule under the direction of the Women’s Basketball Head Coach, oversee travel and equipment budget, staff liaison for social media and serve as a liaison with the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center & Ralph Engelstad Arena (REA) staff concerning team and visiting team practice and game scheduling. This position will also coordinate championship travel/post season participation in the NCAA, WNIT and/or WBI tournaments. This position must have a commitment to compliance with all NCAA rules and regulation, and must provide support, encouragement, and ensure the safety & well-being of the student-athletes.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Administrative duties & team travel 
    • Oversee all administrative aspects of the Women’s Basketball program.
    • Arrange team travel to include: buses, hotel accommodations, meals, commercial and/or charter flights, itineraries, requesting and handling of all cash advances, and completion of post-trip expense reports.
    • Coordinate complimentary tickets for players and coaches for away & home games.
    • Prepare and submit team travel forms to UND Athletics Business Office.
    • Assist in video coordination for coaches and team.
    • Assist in developing a competitive game schedule under the direction of the head coach.
    • Staff liaison for social media (Twitter, Instagram, Facebook & Snapchat).
    • Liaison with REA staff concerning team and visiting team practice and game scheduling.
    • Coordinate end of the year banquet (work with UND Foundations, send out invites, order awards, get caterer).
    • Renew coaching memberships for WBCA, and Minnesota and North Dakota State High school Leagues.
    • Organize coaches Final Four Trip (hotels, flights, tickets, etc.).
    • Assist the coaching staff in all aspects of the program within NCAA bylaws.
  • Summer Camp Director 
    • Plan, develop, and coordinate all UND Women’s Basketball camps and clinics.
    • Complete data entry for all camper registrations.
    • Prepare all payroll hiring paperwork for submission, monitor camp employees time and approve time sheets.
    • Hire workers and develop camp schedules. 
  • Manage Women's Basketball equipment, travel & temporary/student employee budget
    • Approve all equipment purchases and travel expenses.
    • Manage temporary/student employee budget, if applicable.
    • Manage/coordinate exclusive equipment contracts (currently with Adidas).
    • Develop and oversee equipment and travel budget. 
  • Compliance Liaison, academic liaison, and master calendar management
    • Keep track of practice hours, including individual workouts, strength and conditioning, and team practice hours.
    • Complete & submit occasional meal forms, community service hours, and any other compliance-related items.
    • Coordinate a master class schedule of all athletes.
    • Oversee coordination of study table.
    • Responsible for scheduling practices and shoot-around times for home and away teams.
    • Serve as the facilities liaison between the Betty Engelstad Sioux Center, the Hyslop, and the University Wellness Center.
    • Responsible for the master calendar throughout the year, organizing practice times with Men’s Basketball, Volleyball, Soccer and Facilities. • Communicate with Summit League on conference game schedules each year. 
  • Game & practice duties
    • Keep statistics on bench and in practice.
    • Keep track of individual and team fouls.
    • Keep track of individual minutes played.
    • Participate and assist in all on campus recruiting.
    • Organize a scout team for practices and deal with all compliance related issues of this.

Required Competencies

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented with an ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize.
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of students, coaches, faculty, and staff.
  • Must have commitment to NCAA compliance and follow all NCAA, conference, and UND rules and regulations.
  • Must provide support and encouragement and ensure the safety and well-being of the student- athletes, including having a valid driver’s license.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Experience working with basketball coaching staff in coordinating all aspects of recruiting within NCAA bylaws.
  • Experience working with basketball camps at the collegiate level.
  • Experience in collegiate athletics as either a student, graduate assistant, or employee.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Successful completion of criminal history background check.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2 years coordinating basketball operations as a full-time employee, graduate assistant, or student employee.
  • Experience coordinating collegiate basketball team travel.
  • Experience with Synergy and/or Hudl video editing software for basketball.
  • Experience budgeting/ordering/distributing equipment for a basketball team.
  • Experience with monitoring academic progress of basketball student-athletes.
  • Experience with collegiate basketball at the NCAA Division I level.
