Salary/Position Classification

  • $35,360 annual, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week
  • Sunday – Thursday, 5:00 p.m. – 1:30 a.m. with occasional day shift work.
  • This position will work onsite the Grand Forks, ND campus.

Be a part of cutting-edge research, engage with professionals who share your passion, and create work you can be proud of. As a Building Services Technician, you will contribute to the success of the organization through one or more of the following:

  • Performing custodial work required for the cleaning, upkeep, and maintenance of buildings
  • Moving furniture and equipment; collecting waste, paper and recycling materials; performing other custodial duties as required
  • Scrubbing, mopping, and sweeping floors and other surfaces; cleaning, renovating, and renewing floor surface finishes
  • Washing windows, walls, and woodwork
  • Cleaning and disinfecting public restrooms
  • Cleaning and dusting furniture, exhibit cases, fixtures, and related furnishings
  • Sweeping and cleaning walks, removing snow, and generally assisting in keeping outside premises clean and orderly
  • Locking and unlocking doors; providing limited security when buildings are not occupied
  • Reporting minor and major maintenance and equipment issues to appropriate personnel
  • Reading and comprehending directions on labels for mixing chemicals safely
  • Completing necessary training for this job classification
  • Comprehending and following directions
  • Using sound decision-making skills
  • Must be able to withstand long periods of lifting, pulling, tugging, climbing, and kneeling without restrictions
  • Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds daily and frequently
  • Must be able to move 100 pounds with assistance occasionally
  • Must be able to work in buildings containing asbestos materials
  • Subject to callbacks 24-7
  • All other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements

  • A high school degree, GED, or equivalent directly related experience
  • Successful completion of a Criminal History Background Check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic desktop computer experience and knowledge
  • Experience with materials, equipment, and methods used in the cleaning and upkeep of buildings
