Salary/Position Classification

  • $44,300+ Annual, Dependent on Experience, Non-Exempt (Eligible for overtime)
  • 40 hours per week
  • This position will work onsite at UND Grand Forks, ND campus

Purpose of Position

This position provides administration assistance and coordination of pre-clinical medical program assessment requirements. This is an integral component of the medical program that is supported by the Education Resources administrative unit.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • 30% - Case and laboratory examination administration
    1.  Work with the Asst Dean Assessment and Evaluation to coordinate, compile, and administer all pre-clerkship case-based exams
    2. Work with the appropriate faculty and administrators to develop, edit, create, administer, and analyze all pre-clerkship laboratory-based exams (including histology, gross anatomy, microbiology and pathology lab exams)
    3. Implement and coordinate all case-exam and laboratory exam grading procedures, including identification and scheduling of case-exam graders and compilation of outcomes into appropriate spreadsheets
    4. In those cases where paper-based laboratory exams are utilized, work with faculty to facilitate question compilation, answer key compilation, exam formatting, paper copy generation, grading and compilation of outcomes into appropriate spreadsheets
    5. Provide case and laboratory exam outcomes to the Assessment Specialist-Digital Operations for incorporation into required gradebook platforms
    6. Review exam questions (proofreading, formatting, categorizing, question type) and input assessments 
  • 25% - General administrative duties related to Assessment
    1. Assist the Asst Dean Assessment and Evaluation, as needed
    2. Coordinate post-exam analyses for undergraduate medical education student assessment
    3. Work closely with students to providing information regarding testing procedures, requirements and outcomes
    4. Review exam questions (proofreading, formatting, categorizing, question type) and input assessments
    5. Adhere to privacy, security, and confidentiality measures regarding student records and other sensitive information in accordance with university, state and federal regulations, policies and procedures
    6. Inform students on testing related needs (exam software download and updates) and protocols
    7. Coordinate all student exam review session
    8. Maintain electronic and versatile filing systems for all related records pertaining to job duties
    9. Proctor for Phase 1 and the Step Preparation course 
  • 20% - Manage the database of faculty-generated selected-response questions and formative quiz creation
    1. Maintain the current database of faculty-generated selected-response questions
    2. Work with faculty (who lecture) to identify relevant questions and assist them in compiling banks of formative quizzes for each of their lectures 
  • 10% - Administration and coordination of team-based learning individual readiness assurance tests and group readiness assurance tests
    1. Administration and coordination team-based learning individual readiness assurance tests (iRAT) and group readiness assurance tests (gRAT)
    2. Assist the Asst Dean Assessment and Evaluation in generating question banks for iRAT and gRAT questions and identification of content-expert graders
    3. Grade, compile, coordinate and distribute the outcomes of the iRAT and gRAT exams
  • 10% - Manage weekly summative quiz distribution, grading and engagement
    1. In Units 1-3, manage the distribution, timing and grading of weekly quizzes
    2. Utilize the Learning Management System to determine student engagement in the weekly quizzes
    3. Maintain a database of student quiz engagement to enable the allocation of quiz-engagement points.
    4. Provide the database of student quiz engagement to the Assessment Specialist-Digital Operations, in the format requested 
  • 5% - Case exam re-grading coordination
    1.  In those cases where a case-exam may require immediate re-grading, arrange and coordinate the faculty and examination materials and communicate outcomes to the Asst Dean Assessment and Evaluation

Minimum Requirements

  • Associates degree in related area and three years’ work experience OR Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field
  • Experience with scheduling
  • Experience with data collection and entry, and data interpretation and analysis
  • Experience may be related to academic coursework
  • Satisfactory criminal history background check

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience in calendar management
  • Experience with NDUS, UND, and/or SMHS Policies
  • Experience with the functionality of the medical curriculum at the SMHS
